This is a client I have worked for for 25 years and this was the last part of the house to remodel. This was a small closed off kitchen from the 90′s with white washed cabinets, pink and white tile countertops and terra cotta tile floors. We gutted everything, removed one wall to open it up to the dining area and enlarged the window which has a beautiful ocean view. We put a automatic opener on the upper transom window to bring in the fresh ocean breeze. We added a remote sun shade on the exterior for the late afternoon sun set. We added the wood beams to give it a Spanish style to fit in with the rest of the house. The warm colored cabinets against the warm wood floors needed to be broken up so we selected a yellow distressed paint for the island.
The cabinet next to the window is a coffee station with has a lift up cabinet door that slides back so the coffee station is totally exposed when in use and completed covered when not in use. Photo by Jim Brady.
